Ex-cab driver accused of assault by Abia lawmaker, recounts tense encounter with police after filming incident

Police Angry I Recorded Assault By Abia Lawmaker – Cab Driver Reveals

A shocking incident has come to light in Maitama, Abuja, involving a House of Representatives member from Abia State, Alexander Mascot Ikwechegh, and a cab driver, Stephen Abuwatseya. According to Abuwatseya, the incident unfolded at Ikwechegh’s residence, where he had gone to deliver a package.

The cab driver was allegedly subjected to verbal and physical abuse by Ikwechegh, who rebuked him for not bringing the package himself. In his account, Abuwatseya explained that Ikwechegh’s aggressive behavior escalated swiftly, with the Rep allegedly threatening to make him “disappear”, assault him physically, and confine him in his generator house. Reportedly, the cab driver was arrested and taken to the Maitama Police Station.

While in custody, Abuwatseya’s ordeal continued, as the Investigating Police Officer (IPO) at the station expressed anger over his decision to record the assault, adding to his plight.

Abuwatseya recounted the events during a candid discussion with social media influencer, Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan.

“I received a request from Bolt for a pickup at around 9 pm, instructing me to fetch something from a garden after the Kado roundabout. Upon arrival, I saw Ikwechegh seated a short distance from my car, and I greeted him, but he ignored me. I sensed he might not be the intended recipient of the package. His demeanor became belligerent, and he started insulting me, saying I was stupid, mad, and a fool, demanding that I bring his package.”

“He grew agitated, and I reciprocated, explaining that I wasn’t supposed to be responsible for delivering the package. He became furious, and our exchange devolved into a heated argument.”
