Rebutting Squandering Allegations: Danjuma Goje’s Family Refutes Coins-Raining Rumors
The family of Danjuma Goje, the former Governor of Gombe State, has unequivocally dismissed claims that guests showered foreign currency during the wedding ceremony of his daughter, Fauziyya. The wedding took place on Friday at the Central Mosque in Abuja, with prominent dignitaries in attendance, including the President, Senate President, Speaker of the House of Representatives, and several serving and former governors and National Assembly members.
The controversy began when a viral video showed guests spraying US currency, prompting a response from Muhammad Yayari, Goje’s media aide. In a statement, he emphasized that the Goje family would never condone an activity that is illegal in Nigeria.
According to the statement, the Goje family views the video as a malicious attempt by mischief-makers to sabotage the celebration and besmirch the reputation of the family and its guests. They pointed out that the individuals in the video are not related to Fauziyya and her groom.
The statement clarified that throughout the wedding celebrations, there was no instance where men and women were mixed, and the family expressed gratitude for the support and goodwill received from friends, associates, and well-wishers during this joyous occasion.
In essence, the family urges the public to disregard the baseless claim and uphold the values of decency and respect that define their family.
