Nollywood Actress Calls Out Married Men with Close Ties to Female Friends or Ex-Girlfriends
Rita Edochie, a renowned Nollywood actress, has taken to social media to share her thoughts on the topic of married men keeping close ties with female friends or ex-girlfriends. In her post, she emphasized that a married man’s only female “best friend” should be his wife, and that if he cherished his friendship with his ex so much, he should have stayed with her.
Edochie also advised single women who label themselves as best friends to married men to be cautious, warning that such relationships often imply an ulterior motive. She urged married men to establish boundaries and focus solely on their wives, leaving previous relationships in the past.
Edochie’s Instagram post, written in pidgin English, stated: “The next step is second wife talk. As a married man, focusing on female besties while still in a marriage. If you love and value your relationship with your ex, why didn’t you end it there? If you’re not with her, why still keep in touch? breakup rethink and move on to another woman. But why still maintain a friendship with your ex and have her visit your home, cooking for you? That’s unacceptable.”
She challenged single women who claim to be besties with married men to reflect on their own intentions and motivations, suggesting that their relationships might be nothing more than a means to achieve a romantic goal. “I’m calling out all single ladies who claim to be friends with married men,” she wrote. “I know many of you are side chicks. You can’t be intimate with a man, be locked in a room together, and not expect something more. Be honest with yourselves.”
