Mohbad’s Wife Agrees To DNA Test To Determine Son’s Paternity

Mohbad’s Widow Ready to Conduct DNA Test to Determine Paternity of Their Son

Naijawebinfo reported that Mohbad, the 27-year-old Nigerian singer, tragically passed away, leaving behind his wife, Omowunmi, and a young son named Liam. The circumstances surrounding his death sparked intense debate on social media, with Omowunmi and Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, at odds over conducting a DNA test to determine the paternity of their son.

Omowunmi had initially resisted Joseph’s demands for a DNA test, prompting the family to take legal action. In court documents, the Aloba family’s legal team, led by Emmanuel Oroko, argued that attempts to serve Omowunmi had failed. However, Magistrates Court intervened, directing both parties to engage in alternative dispute resolution, which ultimately ended in closed-door negotiations.

In a recent development, Omowunmi’s representative, Monisola Odumosu, disclosed that the parties have agreed to move forward with the DNA test. According to Odumosu, Omowunmi has consented to the test, and Joseph has agreed to bear the cost of the process and associated fees.

The terms of the settlement call for the DNA test to be conducted at a recognized and accredited medical facility within Lagos State or another acceptable hospital outside the state. The test will be supervised by officials appointed by the court to guarantee its reliability.

In a court statement, Emmanuel Oroko revealed that the parties have reached an agreement, with the terms of the settlement being filed and served on Omowunmi’s lawyers. The court has adopted the terms, bringing an end to the dispute.

Essentially, the agreement stipulates that Omowunmi will submit herself and their son, Liam, for the DNA test at a government or private medical facility, with Joseph covering the costs of the test, including facility fees, sample collection, and administrative fees.
