CAF President Reacts To Demise Of Seven Zambian Footballers

A devastating road accident over the weekend sent ripples of shock throughout the Zambia football community. The tragic event occurred when a group of footballers from the Chavuma Town Council Football Club were on their way to a critical match in the North Western Province Division One League.

In a heartfelt message, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) President, Motsepe, expressed his deepest condolences not only to the grieving families but also to the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) and the broader Zambian community.

The CAF head stated, “It is with a heavy heart that I learned about the tragic road accident that took the life of some and left several others severely injured while they were traveling to compete in a league match.” He expressed his sympathies not only to the families and friends of the deceased players but also to the FAZ and the wider Zambian community.

Motsepe continued, “We extend our condolences and those of CAF to the families, friends, and teammates of the deceased players, as well as to the Football Association of Zambia during this incredibly difficult time.” He also offered his hopes for the speedy recovery of those injured in the accident, saying, “We hope and pray that the injured will make a full recovery soon. May God provide comfort and strength to the families, friends, and colleagues mourning this loss, as well as to the entire Football Association of Zambia.”
