Following the spread of viral videos and voice notes on social media, threatening violence in the state, the Anambra State Police Command has launched an investigation to ensure the safety and security of all citizens.
Command Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the investigation, expressing the police’s commitment to upholding the law and order in the state, stating that no individual or group will be allowed to compromise the fundamental rights of others.
In response to the threats, the police, in partnership with other security agencies, have bolstered their patrols and surveillance efforts to maintain public safety, uphold peace in the state, and enforce the law.
Ikenga recalled that the command has previously arrested individuals involved in creating videos and voice notes to create unrest, panic, and divert attention from the peace of the people of Anambra. He emphasized that the authorities have intensified their patrols and surveillance efforts, ensuring improved security, public order, and support services across the state.
The statement read: “The Police and Other Security Forces have intensified their patrols, and improved security dominance and surveillance to enforce the law, maintain Public Order, Public Safety and other Support Services in the State.”
Ikenga urged the public to remain vigilant, report any security concerns to the police, and ensure prompt action and assistance.
