A horrific incident in Port Harcourt: Father pours hot water on neighbour after a minor accident at his home

A disturbing incident has left a 31-year-old hairstylist, Blessing, in critical condition after a brutal attack by her neighbor, Ejike, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The incident occurred on Wednesday after an accident involving Blessing and Ejike’s young son, which left some hot water spilling onto the ground.

According to eyewitnesses, Blessing was in the process of styling a customer’s hair when Ejike’s son accidentally bumped into her, causing some of the hot water to spilt onto the ground. Meanwhile, Blessing remained calm and went to comfort the boy, not realizing the gravity of the situation.

As Ejike emerged from his room to inquire about the commotion, he allegedly grabbed the kettle from the ground and poured its contents directly onto Blessing’s chest, with some of the hot water splashing onto her face.

Witnesses recalled that “Ejike waited until Blessing was still comforting the young boy, then he came in front of the young woman, poured the hot water on her breast, which also splashed her face.”

After the attack, Ejike fled the scene, while Blessing was taken to the Azikiwe Police Division for medical attention, where she received a medical form and was later hospitalized for further treatment.

The woman’s family is now demanding justice, calling Ejike’s actions “unacceptable” and “condemnable.” Her elder brother, Goodluck Nwankwo, urged the police to arrest Ejike and ensure he faces justice.

Meanwhile, the victim’s family is struggling to cover the medical expenses, as Blessing’s condition improves gradually.

The spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, Superintendent of Police, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the incident and revealed that Ejike had been arrested, adding that the police have issued a medical form to Blessing and she is currently receiving treatment.
