Lagos State Taskforce Slams Illegal Road Blocking for Parties and Religious Events
A stern warning has been issued by the Lagos State Taskforce to residents who are in the habit of blocking public roads for parties, social gatherings, and religious events. This act of obstruction is causing significant inconvenience to other residents and motorists, and the Taskforce has explicitly stated that it will not tolerate such behavior.
According to Gbadeyan Abdulraheem, Director of Press & Public Affairs, the Lagos State Taskforce has expressed deep concern over the growing trend of obstructing public roads for personal events. This, he emphasized, not only disrupts the lives of law-abiding citizens but also poses serious security and safety risks.
The Taskforce has specifically highlighted the case of a recent social event on Raymond Njoku Street in Ikoyi, which was disrupted after the force responded to reports of traffic obstruction and noise pollution. As a result, the event was terminated, and key organizers were arrested.
Similarly, other incidents have been reported on streets like Lawani Street in Yaba, Ganiyu Lamina Street at Ijaye Ojokoro, and other locations across the Lagos Metropolis. The Taskforce is urging those involved in this practice to desist forthwith or face serious legal consequences.
The Chairman of the Agency, CSP Adetayo Akerele, emphasized that blocking roads for parties or religious events is illegal and those involved will face the full weight of the law. He appealed to residents to use designated event centers or obtain necessary permits from relevant authorities before organizing gatherings that may impact public roads.
In essence, the Lagos State Taskforce will not hesitate to take enforcement actions against anyone found violating this directive. Residents are cautioned to take heed and desist from this illegal practice, as the Taskforce is committed to maintaining a safe and orderly environment in the state capital.
