Kano Pillars Star Ahmed Musa Criticizes Officiating In NPFL

Kano Pillars Forward Ahmed Musa Echoes Frustration with NPFL Officiating

After a recent fixture between Nasarawa United and Kano Pillars at Lafia City Stadium, the Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa, has expressed his concerns over the officiating in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL). Specifically, he singled out issues with the refereeing duo, Dahiru Muhammed Kawo and Abdulmajid Sani Potiskum, concerning a contentious goal that seemed to involve Nasarawa United players in offside positions.

Musa, having returned to his boyhood club Kano Pillars alongside Shehu Abdullahi, emphasized the importance of top-notch officiating to entice other Super Eagles players to finish their careers in the NPFL. He lamented that, with such officiating, it’s hard to justify the decision to return to the league. “I’ve been pushing for progress in officiating, but the events of this match raise doubts about our direction. It makes me question whether coming back to the NPFL was the right choice,” he said.

The all-time FIFA World Cup top scorer for Nigeria further underscored the need for high-quality officiating to boost the league’s profile, stating, “If we continue to see such officiating, it could deter others from returning to the NPFL. We want to make the most of our efforts and contribute positively to the league.”

With Kano Pillars set to face Plateau United in their Matchday 10 fixture, Musa aims to help improve the league, but the current officiating hinders his vision. “I’m committed to enhancing the NPFL’s profile, but officiating like what we experienced in Lafia creates obstacles that stifle progress,” he lamented.

In light of the team’s 1-0 loss, Musa’s disappointment with officiating is palpable, and his concerns about the league’s prospects remain a pressing issue in the NPFL.
