Celebration Erupts at Ministry of Women Affairs as Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye’s Dismissal is Announced
The news of Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye’s dismissal from her role as a minister at the Ministry of Women Affairs sent shockwaves of excitement throughout the building, as employees broke into spontaneous celebration. A video of the jubilant staff, shared by Abubakar Sidiq Usman, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), shows workers dancing and chanting in the corridors of the office, with the phrase “finally!” echoing through the halls as they express their relief at her departure.
The scene was a stark reflection of the tumultuous tenure of Kennedy-Ohanenye, who had faced numerous criticisms and controversies during her time in office. Her dismissal, along with that of four other ministers, was part of a broader cabinet reshuffle aimed at improving efficiency and effectiveness in President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Kennedy-Ohanenye was not the only high-profile casualty of the shake-up, as Lola Ade-John, Minister of Tourism; Jamila Bio Ibrahim, Minister of Youth Development; Tahir Mamman, Minister of Education; and Abdullahi Muhammad Gwarzo, Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, also received the boot.
The celebration at the Ministry of Women Affairs is a clear indication of the internal challenges and dissatisfaction that had built up during Kennedy-Ohanenye’s administration.
