A Raw Video Reveals Tense Confrontation between Nigerian Police and NSCDC Officers
Recently, a shocking video has emerged, showing a physical altercation between Nigerian police officers and members of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in broad daylight.
The incident unfolded in Abere, the capital of Osun State, specifically in the Elizabeth Estate area. According to local reports, the clash began when police officers, without a valid warrant, tried to detain a resident on Tuesday.
The NSCDC personnel intervened, blocking the arrest, but the police officers returned on Thursday, this time with reinforcements, leading to a heated confrontation.
The disturbing video captures the chaotic scene, with both security forces engaging in a brutal struggle that has left bystanders on edge. A local resident, who witnessed the events, recounted, “The police initially tried to arrest someone without a warrant, but the civil defense officers intervened and stopped them. When they returned the next day with more men, they were able to overpower the civil defense team and drag the man away to the police CID in Osogbo. Sadly, their commandant has yet to make any statement or take action on the matter.”
In an attempt to provide information on the incident, the spokesperson for the Osun State Police Command, Yemisi Opalola, could not be reached, as her calls and messages were left unanswered at the time of reporting.
This is not the first time security agencies in Nigeria have clashed, raising concerns about cooperation and coordination among the nation’s security forces.
