Tragedy Strikes in Plateau State as Two Students Killed in Ambush

Two young students have fallen victim to senseless violence in an ambush by armed assailants at Kurra Falls in the Gashish District of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area. Obadiah Daryan, 25, a student from the National Veterinary Research Institute, and Ezekiel Monday, 21, of Government Senior Secondary School Gashish, were on a motorcycle ride to Barkin Ladi town when they were attacked and mercilessly killed. The attackers also stole Obadiah’s phone, leaving the community in shock and mourning the loss of these precious lives.

Despite the heinous nature of the attack, authorities have yet to make any arrests, and the motive behind the incident remains unclear. The community is reeling from the devastating loss, and it’s unacceptable that the police have yet to provide any updates or assurances of action.

Just a few days prior to this tragedy, another disturbing incident occurred in the same region. Francis Samuel, a resident of Fass settlement, was brutally stabbed in the Kwi community and is currently receiving medical treatment at a local hospital. The Plateau State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Alfred Alabo, has not made any official statement regarding these violent attacks.

In recent months, the region has seen a surge in violent attacks, including the killing of innocent individuals, destruction of farmlands and cattle, and rustling of livestock, pitting farmers and herders against each other.
