RCCG Suspends Pastor and Deacon Over Allegations of Homosexuality
A startling development has emerged within the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), as Pastor Ayorinde AdeBello and Deacon Oke Mayowa have been suspended from office following serious allegations of homosexuality within the Church.
The turn of events began when an Instagram blogger blew the lid off the scandal, accusing AdeBello and Mayowa of engaging in inappropriate behavior with young people within the Church and on a national scale.
In a formal memo dated October 28, 2024, the RCCG leadership addressed to the Special Assistant to the General Overseer on Administration, the Church made it clear that its doctrine does not condone or tolerate any form of homosexuality. The memo also mandated an investigation into the allegations, to be completed within a two-week timeframe.
The memo, signed by National Overseer Pastor Sunday Akande and copied to all National organs in the Church, emphasized the need to handle the situation with care and integrity, in accordance with Church values. The Church also directed Pastor AdeBello to relinquish all positions within the Church, given the gravity of the allegations, and noted that predatory behavior towards those the Church is responsible for, is utterly unacceptable and will not be tolerated if proven true.
This development has sparked widespread interest in the media, with many calling for further action to be taken to address the serious allegations.
