Factional APGA Chairman Applauds Tinubu’s Decision to Appoint Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu as Minister
In a recent interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja, the factional National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Sly Ezeokenwa, expressed his approval and pride regarding the recent appointment of Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu as the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
Ezeokenwa, who took over the leadership of APGA in 2023, praised President Bola Tinubu’s decision, calling it “audacious and commendable.” He highlighted that Odumegwu-Ojukwu’s appointment is a positive step towards inclusive governance and recognition of meritorious service to the nation.
Ezeokenwa referred to Odumegwu-Ojukwu as a renowned party member, renowned for her sterling qualities, and wife of the late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, the party’s spiritual leader. He commended President Tinubu for his bold move, saying, “I wish to commend Tinubu for making such a laudable and audacious move.”
As a lawyer and former chief spokesperson for the party, Ezeokenwa emphasized the importance of having a strong cabinet with technocrats who can drive the president’s agenda effectively. He expressed his support for the president’s success, stating that the Nigerian economy needs urgent attention to revive and alleviate the suffering of the people.
Ezeokenwa believes that the president should look beyond party affiliations to find credible Nigerians with the skills and expertise to drive positive change. He emphasized the need to make bold decisions to ensure the country’s growth and development, stating, “At the end of the day, it’s all about Nigerians; I want Tinubu to succeed, because if he succeeds, Nigeria will succeed, and the level of hunger in the country will decrease.”
Ezeokenwa shared his vision for Nigeria, saying the country should aim to be among the top five leading economies in the world, with the vast human capital at its disposal. He commended the president for making bold and audacious moves, including the appointment of Odumegwu-Ojukwu as minister.
The factional chairman also touched on the party’s internal crisis, assuring that there is no factionalization within APGA, but rather an attempt by non-party members to hijack the party from the outside.
