APC Leaders in Anambra Express Outrage Over Bianca Ojukwu’s Ministerial Appointment
A sense of unease is brewing within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State, following the announcement of Bianca Ojukwu as a minister-designate. Party leaders are protesting the lack of consultation and the decision’s perceived breach of party loyalty.
A recent emergency meeting in Awka, attended by APC stakeholders, revealed widespread discontent over the appointment, which some view as an “anti-party” move.
High Chief Bunty Onuigbo, the South East Zonal Secretary of the APC and a member of the APC Elders Forum in Anambra, emphasized the potential consequences of this decision, stating that it could lead to demoralization among party members and potentially even mass defections to other parties like the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
“By empowering members of other parties at the expense of our own party in Anambra, the President is jeopardizing loyalty and unity within the party,” Onuigbo cautioned, questioning the President’s intentions.
Onuigbo also accused the President of inadvertently fueling APGA’s dominance in local empowerment programs, which he claimed unfairly favors party members over APC members.
This perceived favoritism has led to accusations that the President is actively working to undermine the APC in Anambra State, with some even suggesting that he is secretly working for APGA.
In response to the situation, APC leaders have decided to formalize their concerns by drafting a complaint to the state Chairman, Chief Basil Ejidike, who is expected to escalate the matter to the National Working Committee (NWC) and National Executive Committee (NEC) of the APC.
