Contractor Arrested in Abuja for Malicious Act to Secure New Deal

Foreign Contractor Arrested In Abuja For Damaging Streetlights In Order To Get New Contract

Revealed: Foreign Contractor Accused of Vandalizing Abuja Streetlights

A shocking discovery was made by the Abuja Metropolitan Management Council (AMMC) as they arrested a foreign contractor caught engaging in the destruction of streetlights in Abuja.

According to Felix Obuah, the AMMC Coordinator, the contractor deliberately damages existing streetlights to secure new contracts.

Obuah made this announcement after conducting an inspection of ongoing streetlight repairs and maintenance, as directed by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

The AMMC Coordinator revealed that the contractor’s company is well-known, and the individual will face full legal consequences.

This development contradicts initial suspicions that scavengers were behind the vandalism, as it emerged that a prominent contractor was involved.

Abuja streetlights are divided into 21 lots, with 18 lots already inspected, and repairs underway for the vandalized areas.

Obuah assured that a report would be submitted to the FCT Minister, and further action would be taken against those responsible, ensuring justice is served.

He emphasized that the minister has instructed the AMMC to ensure Abuja is well-lit, and he personally led an assessment team to ensure progress.

Abuja is divided into 21 lots, and 18 lots have been inspected, with many showing signs of vandalism, which is being addressed by his team.

However, Obuah expressed disappointment with the level of destruction and commended his team’s efforts, particularly in maintaining light on Yar’adua Way and Jabi areas, with some still under restoration.

To prevent further sabotage, the AMMC will work to restore all damages and ensure those responsible are held accountable.

Obuah concluded that, contrary to initial assumptions that scavengers were behind the vandalism, it was actually a high-profile contractor involved, an expatriate who vandals streetlights to secure contracts.
