Manchester United Legend Paul Scholes Casts Doubt Over Excitement Surrounding Ruben Amorim’s Potential Appointment
Football legend Paul Scholes has expressed skepticism about the growing buzz surrounding the prospect of Ruben Amorim taking the reins as Manchester United’s next manager.
Scholes, a long-time Manchester United stalwart, believes that his old club would have been better off pursuing Thomas Tuchel, who, in his opinion, has the expertise and experience to lead a top-tier team to success.
In a recent discussion for The Overlap Fan Debate, Scholes shared his thoughts on the latest developments, stating, “I think Thomas Tuchel would have been the perfect candidate to steer Manchester United forward. Unfortunately, he’s now unavailable, having taken the role with the England national team. His track record in managing an elite club and winning crucial matches is impressive, and his credentials speak volumes.”
As for Amorim, Scholes acknowledged that the Portuguese coach has achieved notable success in the Portuguese league and carries a strong presence, but he cautioned against getting too carried away with the hype, comparing it to the enthusiasm surrounding Erik ten Hag’s appointment. “The buzz around Amorim reminds me of the excitement surrounding ten Hag’s appointment,” Scholes said. “While Amorim has certainly achieved success in the Portuguese league, which is a competitive environment, and has a certain charisma that is promising, we shouldn’t get ahead of ourselves just yet.”
