Nigeria’s Star Striker Osimhen Rules Out Chelsea Move, Commits to Galatasaray
Nigeria’s in-form striker, Victor Osimhen, has made it clear that he won’t be joining Chelsea in the January transfer window, opting to see out his loan deal with Galatasaray until the end of the season. Osimhen made the announcement after scoring his fourth goal in as many games for Galatasaray in their recent 2-1 win over Besiktas in the Istanbul Derby.
When asked about his future plans, Osimhen remained resolute, stating: “I’m here.” This news puts an end to speculation surrounding an early departure from Galatasaray, where he has been on loan from Napoli.
The 25-year-old has been in scintillating form, scoring in three consecutive Turkish Super Lig matches, including a memorable overhead kick against Antalyaspor. His latest goal, a precise header in the 67th minute, helped Galatasaray maintain their six-point lead at the top of the league standings.
Chelsea are known to be interested in signing Osimhen, but fans of the London club will have to wait until 2025 to potentially see him don the Blues jersey. Notably, Chelsea legends John Mikel Obi and Didier Drogba have both endorsed Osimhen as a great fit for the club.
For now, Galatasaray are set to capitalize on Osimhen’s talents, with the striker contributing four goals and four assists in just six appearances. With the team leading the Turkish Super Lig with 28 points from 10 games, they are in prime position to secure a successful season thanks to Osimhen’s impressive form.
