Nigerian Forward Peter Olayinka Undergoes Surgery for Achilles Tendon Injury

Olayinka’s UEFA Champions League match against AS Monaco had to be cut short after he suffered an Achilles tendon injury. He left the field early due to the severity of the injury.

Olayinka underwent surgery in Finland, as announced by his club, Red Star Belgrade. The procedure was necessary to address the damage caused by a blow he received during the intense match against Monaco.

“Peter Olayinka has successfully undergone surgery in Finland, following an Achilles tendon injury sustained during the match in Monaco, at the hands of a renowned doctor,” read the club’s statement. Olayinka’s team expressed relief that the operation was a success and optimism about his recovery.

The statement continued, “Everything went smoothly, and we’re now closely monitoring the post-operative phase to better understand the timeline for his return to play. We’re wishing him a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him back on the pitch!”

Experts predict a challenging rehabilitation process for Olayinka, potentially keeping him sidelined for around six to nine months. His absence will be felt, as he’s already made significant contributions this season, scoring two goals and providing two assists in just six league appearances for Red Star Belgrade.
