“NURTW Union Members Suffering Job Loss, Plot to Oust Governor Adeleke”

‘Our Members Have Been Rendered Jobless’ – NURTW Plots To Kick Out Gov Adeleke From Office

NURTW Threatens to Votes Out Osun Governor in 2026 Election

A strong message was sent by the leadership of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Osun State, stating that they will work against the re-election of Governor Ademola Adeleke in 2026.

This decision was made during a meeting in Ilesa, where the union’s Central Working Committee (CWC) discussed the maltreatment of its members by the Adeleke administration since taking office.

The union’s Acting Chairman, Kazeem Oyewale, lamented the harsh treatment of its members under the current government, saying, “Since the governor took office, we have seen a lot of suffering, and our members have been heavily impacted.” He emphasized that the union will not hesitate to take action against Adeleke in 2026.

Oyewale stressed that the union’s non-partisan nature notwithstanding, it is crucial for members to align with a political party that recognizes and champions their well-being and welfare. He continued, “We must work with the party that acknowledges our existence and supports our members.” He also pointed out that hundreds of union members have been rendered jobless and idle since the governor took office.

Oyewale made it clear, “We are determined to take back our rightful place in the state’s transport sector, and we will work to ensure Adeleke is defeated in the 2026 election.” He assured that the union will give its full support to the party that recognizes them when in government.

The union’s aggressive stance is a direct response to the governor’s actions since taking office, including the sacking of union members and the introduction of the Park Manager system.
