ZLP Affirms Participation in Ondo State Governorship Election, Denies Planned Merger with PDP
The Ondo State chapter of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) has officially confirmed its participation in the upcoming governorship election on November 16, dispelling rumors of a potential merger with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
According to Cornelius Akintoye, the State Chairman of the party, ZLP remains committed to its independent campaign and strategy for the election, with several party members actively working toward securing victory. While some individuals affiliated with the ZLP may have joined the PDP, Akintoye stressed that these moves do not reflect the party’s official stance.
Akintoye emphasized, “As the state chairman of the Zenith Labour Party in Ondo State, I want to assure you that we are fully engaged and moving forward with our campaign. However, we have noticed that certain individuals are falsely claiming affiliation with our party and accepting funds from the PDP or APC. These individuals do not represent our organization.”
The party’s candidate, Abass Mimiko, also unequivocally denied any plans to merge with the PDP, stating simply, “No Way! Never! We are going to win the election, Insha Allah.”
