Lagos State Governor, Sanwo-Olu, Did Not Sue EFCC – Lagos State Government
In other news, Lagos State Government has debunked reports that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is suing the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Naijawebinfo had reported earlier that Sanwo-Olu had allegedly filed a lawsuit against the EFCC, claiming threats of arrest, detention, and prosecution once his tenure as governor concludes.
The court case, a fundamental rights enforcement action, was filed by Sanwo-Olu’s lawyer, Darlington Ozurumba, at the Federal High Court in Abuja.
Ozurumba announced at a court session that the original petition had been withdrawn and replaced with a revised filing, which had been served on the EFCC.
However, the EFCC’s counsel, Hadiza Afegbua, claimed that she had not received the new court documents, and the proof of service was not available in the court file.
The case was adjourned until November 11th for further mention.
The Lagos State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Lawal Pedro (SAN), has since come out to debunk the reports, stating that Sanwo-Olu never sued or briefed a legal practitioner to file a suit in this regard.
The State Government is currently investigating how the case came to be without their knowledge.
