Afrobeat Sensation Tiwa Savage Opens Up About the Challenges of Being a Single Mother in the Entertainment Industry
Tiwa Savage, a renowned Afrobeat artist, has shared her candid thoughts about the challenges she faces as a single mother in the entertainment industry. In a recent interview with Tacha on the Big Friday Show, Tiwa highlighted the importance of support systems in her life, particularly her mother and a dedicated nanny who have been instrumental in her son Jamil’s upbringing.
As a single mother, Tiwa emphasized that it truly takes a village to raise a child, citing the significant role her mother and the nanny have played. “I always need my mum. I call on my mum; she’s very instrumental, and we have a nanny that has been with us since he was three months old, and he’s nine now, so she has been with us for nine years,” she mentioned.
The singer also praised the assistance she receives from her son’s godmothers, who step in when she’s away for work. “My mum is a shining example of what it means to be a mother; she still mothers me at this age,” she said. “She still calls me to ask if I’ve eaten and tells me to drink lots of water and rest. When she sees things online, she still worries about me, even at my age. Our jobs don’t end.”
Tiwa is not only a talented artist but also a devoted mother. She commends women’s unique ability to juggle multiple responsibilities, stating, “And for me, I think as women we can juggle lots of things at once; that’s our superpower. I can literally be a full-time mum and a full-time career woman.”
Tiwa is set to release a new album, and fans are eagerly awaiting the creative masterpiece. We can only imagine the inspiration she’ll draw from her personal journey as a single mother and her dedication to her craft.
