Tragedy Strikes: Three Individuals Shot Dead in Umuahia by Armed Gunmen
Recently, the Abia State Police Command has been rocked by a disturbing incident of murder, as three individuals, including a 26-year-old employee of Zenith Bank, One Victor Udensi, were brutally killed by armed gunmen in Umuahia.
The unfortunate event occurred when Udensi, who had just finished his work shift, stopped to visit a popular spot along the Isi Court Axis of Olokoro in Umuahia South around 8 p.m., unaware that his evening was about to take a deadly turn. As he was about to leave, he was confronted by three armed men, who attempted to force him into the trunk of his vehicle.
In a desperate bid to escape, Udensi put up a fierce resistance, but the assailants responded by shooting him in the back, leaving him seriously injured on the ground. The attackers then made a failed attempt to start Udensi’s car before targeting another unsuspecting driver in a Camry. When they tried to force the car key from the driver, he also resisted, and in the ensuing struggle, he was shot and killed instantly.
A second Keke Nka, which was headed in the opposite direction, luckily drove by the crime scene. The armed men, not wanting to be hindered by this unexpected development, opened fire on the unsuspecting driver, striking him fatally.
A witness reported that a group of bystanders quickly rushed Udensi to the hospital, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after receiving medical attention.
The Commissioner of Police in Abia State, CP Danladi Isa, has assured the public that a manhunt has been launched to apprehend the perpetrators of this heinous crime, promising that they would be held accountable for their actions.
