Police Arrest Arms Dealer Supplying Weapons To Bandits In Plateau

A Notorious Arms Dealer Busted in Plateau State, Nigeria

A significant breakthrough in the fight against crime has been achieved in Plateau state, Nigeria, with the arrest of a notorious arms dealer, identified as Jubril Musa. According to reports, Musa was taken into custody by the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) with a haul of weapons.

The suspect confessed to supplying arms to bandits and kidnappers in the region, shedding light on the dark underworld of illegal arms trading in the country.

The arms cache recovered from Musa included 2 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, 1 Makarov pistol, 1 fabricated Bronny pistol, a single round of 7.8mm live ammunition, 2 rounds of G3 live ammunition, 4 rounds of 7.6mm live ammunition (short), and a single round of 9mm live ammunition.

In addition to this significant capture, the police have made tremendous progress in the past month in the fight against crime, with hundreds of suspects linked to armed robbery, kidnapping, and murder being arrested. The police have also recovered a large quantity of firearms, ammunition, and stolen vehicles.

According to the police, these arrests demonstrate their commitment to addressing threats to public safety under the leadership of Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.

Since October 1, 2024, the Nigeria Police Force has achieved the following milestones in the fight against crime:

  • Arrested 371 armed robbery suspects
  • Apprehended 186 kidnapping suspects
  • Detained 242 murder/homicide suspects
  • Stopped 63 suspects connected with the unlawful possession of prohibited firearms
  • Suspects of 217 rape cases were also apprehended
  • 64 suspected cultists were arrested
  • 210 firearms and 3,172 rounds of various calibres of ammunition were recovered
  • 118 stolen vehicles were recovered, and 64 kidnapping victims were rescued

The Inspector-General of Police reassures the public that the Nigeria Police Force is dedicated to enhancing public safety and security through various tactical operations, intelligence-led policing, and community engagement strategies. The ultimate goal is to achieve a substantial decrease in crime rates and combat violent crimes such as banditry, kidnapping, armed robbery, and cybercrime.
