Fuel Crisis: Crude Oil Supply Challenges Ease As Dangote Refinery Receives Four Cargoes

Dangote Refinery dismisses IPMAN’s claim of difficulties loading refined products

In a statement released on Thursday, Dangote Refinery refuted the claim by the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) that its members are experiencing difficulties loading refined products from its facility.

The refinery emphasized that it does not have a direct dealings with IPMAN, nor has it accepted any payment from the association for petroleum purchases. This clears up any confusion arising from recent claims made by IPMAN’s President, Abubakar Garima.

Prior to Dangote’s statement, Garima had stated that despite paying N40 billion to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), IPMAN members are still facing significant difficulties in loading petrol from the Dangote Refinery in Lagos.

However, Dangote’s Group Chief Branding and Communication Officer, Anthony Chiejina, countered Garima’s claims, explaining that the refinery has not established any direct dealings with IPMAN. The refinery emphasize that they are capable of loading 2,900 trucks per day, and they also evacuate petroleum products by sea. They urged IPMAN to follow the proper process in registering and making direct payments.

The refinery emphasized that it cannot be held responsible for any payments made to other entities, as NNPCL is responsible for all payment transactions. Dangote Refinery is simply supplying goods and services to NNPCL, not directly to IPMAN.

In a statement, the refinery reiterated its ability to meet the nation’s demand for petroleum products, including petrol, diesel, and aviation fuel. They stressed that they have enough products to satisfy the needs of IPMAN’s members and encouraged the association to register with them directly and make payments accordingly.

The refinery also cautioned against making unfounded statements in the media, as it can undermine the economic re-engineering efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. They encouraged all stakeholders to collaborate and work together rather than engage in media conflicts and propaganda.
