‘I Became A Man At 11-Years Old’ – Oluwadolarz Opens Up On Childhood Struggles

Nigerian Singer Oluwadolarz Opens Up About His Childhood Struggles

In a recent interview with Chude Jideonwu on the “WithChude” podcast, Nigerian singer and content creator Oluwadolarz shared some eye-opening details about his childhood. According to Oluwadolarz, he was forced to take on adult responsibilities at the tender age of 11 after his father’s death when he was just two years old.

“It was tough, very tough,” Oluwadolarz recalled, his voice laced with a mix of sadness and determination. “My stepfather was there, but unfortunately, he passed away in 2015. That was a big blow to our family, and I had to really step up and take care of myself and my family as well.”

Early responsibility took a toll on Oluwadolarz, who reminisced about his early days working at Dangote Cement as a truck loader, where he was tasked with loading pasta onto trucks. “I was already thinking about what the family would eat at such a young age,” he admitted, his voice tinged with a mix of sadness and frustration.

The singer’s journey in the music industry was not without its challenges. Despite releasing his debut song in 2008, Oluwadolarz faced rejection and lost many opportunities due to a rape allegation, which left him feeling defeated and depressed. “I was in a terrible state,” he recalled. “I had just become a father, and the weight of being a single parent on top of the pressure from the music industry was overwhelming. I was struggling to make ends meet, and the debt I had accumulated was suffocating me.”

In the end, Oluwadolarz emerged stronger, determined to turn his tragedies into triumphs. Despite the setbacks, he continues to create music and content, inspired by his own resilience and the lessons he has learned along the way.
