Atalanta BC Prepares for the Departure of Star Player Ademola Lookman

The fate of Ademola Lookman, a key player for Italian Serie A side Atalanta BC, seems increasingly uncertain as interest from several top clubs continues to grow. The player’s coach, Gian Piero Gasperini, has openly acknowledged the interest from French powerhouse Paris Saint-Germain, hinting that Lookman’s departure is becoming more likely by the day.

In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Gasperini revealed that PSG had been in contact with the player during the summer transfer window. While an agreement on personal terms was reached, a deal was ultimately not finalized. This has led to speculation that Atalanta is actively seeking a suitable replacement for Lookman, who has become a vital part of the squad.

The 25-year-old Nigerian forward has attracted attention from prominent clubs like Chelsea and West Ham United in the English Premier League, solidifying his status as a valuable asset in the transfer market. According to reports, Atalanta is looking to generate around €60 million from Lookman’s potential sale, which will be reinvested in acquiring young talent to strengthen the squad.

Several players have emerged as potential replacements for Lookman, including Argentine striker Mario Retegui, Nico Gonzalez, Federico Chiesa, Denis Dragus, and Angel Gomes, currently playing for Lille. Since joining Atalanta from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2022, Lookman has become an essential player, making significant contributions to the team’s successes, including their UEFA Europa League title win. His impressive performances have also earned him recognition globally, finishing 14th in the final standings for the prestigious Ballon d’Or.
