Lionel Messi Rules Out Coaching Career, Eyes New Chapter in Football and Life

In a recent interview with renowned football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Argentine footballer Lionel Messi shared his thoughts on his future, the upcoming 2026 World Cup, and his post-playing career plans.

Lionel Messi, 37, has enjoyed a storied career, including numerous trophies and accolades with Barcelona before his move to Inter Miami.

However, Messi has explicitly stated that he does not intend to pursue a coaching role, preferring to focus on enjoying his daily routine and having fun.

“I wouldn’t like to be a coach. I value my daily routine and training sessions more than anything. I’m just focused on playing and having fun,” Messi explained.

Regarding his potential participation in the 2026 World Cup, Messi is uncertain, citing the need to have a good end to the season and pre-season before making a decision.

“I’m not thinking too much about it. I’m going to live day to day without thinking too much about the future,” he stated.

In reflection on his legacy, Messi expressed his gratitude for the opportunities and experiences he’s had.

“Let people remember me as they want. My biggest dream was to win the World Cup, which I fought for a long time and which cost me a lot of effort,” he said.

Regarding his ambitions with Inter Miami, which recently won the regular season, Messi emphasized the importance of the MLS title.

“We were happy and celebrated the achievement because it was something difficult and important. We know the real title we want is the MLS Cup,” he explained.

The club’s growth-oriented philosophy, Messi noted, is a key aspect of their success.

“The club does not set limits; that is the philosophy. We have to keep growing to be great within the MLS and, why not, within the world,” he added.
