Rivers Stakeholders: Dokubo Didn’t Deliver Tinubu Votes in His Unit, Undisputed Fubara Supporter

‘Asari Dokubo Couldn’t Deliver Tinubu In His Unit, Never Supported Fubara’ – Rivers Stakeholders

Rivers Restoration Movement Condemns Asari-Dokubo’s Divisive Rhetoric

The Rivers Restoration Movement (RRM), a coalition of stakeholders, has condemned the recent comments made by Niger Delta freedom fighter, Asari Dokubo, in which he disparaged the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, and labeled the Yoruba community as traitors.

According to a statement released by the RRM’s Director-General, Johnson Georgewill, these statements are “misguided and misleading,” dismissing Asari-Dokubo’s claims as half-truths and outright falsehoods.

Asari-Dokubo, in a viral video, claimed he does not support Rivers State Governor Sir Siminialayi Fubara and threatened that the Ijaw people will align with northern interests in the upcoming 2027 presidential election.

RRM countered these assertions, describing Asari-Dokubo’s remarks about the Yoruba as unwarranted and baseless.

Georgewill emphasized that Asari-Dokubo’s statements do not represent the broader interests of the Niger Delta or the Ijaw people and stresses that political alliances should not be based on divisive rhetoric.

The RRM’s statement aims to counter what it called a “narrative of discord” and calls on all stakeholders in the Niger Delta region to prioritize unity and constructive dialogue over inflammatory remarks.

In a strongly worded statement, Georgewill stated that Asari-Dokubo does not have the right to speak for the Ijaw people, pointing out that 90% of Ijaw leaders who worked for the emergence of President Tinubu and Governor Fubara in 2023 are currently supporting Minister Wike.

He also highlighted that 90% of Rivers State Assembly members from the Ijaw extraction are with Minister Wike, making Asari-Dokubo’s claims about spending two million dollars to support President Tinubu suspect.

Georgewill condemned Asari-Dokubo’s attempts to blackmail and threaten institutions, stating that such actions have no place in a democracy governed by the rule of law and constitution.

RRM also emphasized that the Ijaw people will always be grateful to President and Minister Wike for their support, especially in ensuring an Ijaw person becomes the Governor of Rivers State after 24 years of democratic dispensation and appealed to political leaders in Rivers State to support an Ijaw candidate for the sake of equity, fairness, and justice.
