Nigerian Comedian Seyi Law Speaks Out Against EFCC’s Arrest of Crossdresser Bobrisky

A heated controversy has erupted in Nigeria following the re-arrest of popular crossdresser Idris Okuneye, known professionally as Bobrisky, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Reports indicate that Bobrisky was taken from a KLM flight bound for Amsterdam at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos and detained by immigration officials late Thursday night. The incident occurred as he was attempting to leave for London, United Kingdom.

According to eyewitnesses, the crossdresser was roughed up during a confrontation with immigration officers, and he took to social media to voice his distress, saying, “Nigerians, help me, EFCC just arrested me. I’m badly injured.” He also accused the EFCC of being directly involved in his detention.

Not surprisingly, popular comedian Oluwaseyitan Aletile, also known as Seyi Law, has expressed outrage over the incident, questioning the EFCC’s motives and actions. In a post that has garnered wide attention, Seyi Law challenged the EFCC’s decision to allow Bobrisky to board the plane before re-arresting him, asking whether any court had issued a travel restriction against the crossdresser.

“I don’t understand Bobrisky’s case,” Seyi Law wrote. “Did any court ask him not to travel? Why allow him to get on the plane and humiliate him like this?” His pointed question highlights the controversy surrounding the circumstances of Bobrisky’s re-arrest, sparking widespread debate over the role of the EFCC in the matter.
