In an exclusive interview with Nigerian comedian Ayo Makun, aka AY, on his podcast, May Edochie, the estranged wife of Yul Edochie, shared a surprising secret: she’s been rejecting top-paying movie roles for the past three years.
The influential businesswoman and social media personality revealed that she’s turned down numerous movie scripts and directorial offers, opting to pursue other endeavors instead of pursuing an acting career.
According to May, she’s had the opportunity to take on significant roles, with multiple producers and directors wooing her for big paychecks. However, she’s deliberately opted out, citing her reluctance to be an actress.
In her words, “I know Omoni was concerned about me, saying she didn’t know how I would do it, and then admitting that she couldn’t tell her no. I told her I had received scripts for movies, and people were willing to pay a pretty penny. In fact, some familiar faces had even reached out, and I declined every single offer. I simply don’t see myself as an actor or actress. Since I’m a jack-of-all-trades, master of all, I find solace in the idea that I can accomplish many other things if I set my mind to it.”
