Delta State Mourns the Loss of Former Deputy Governor, Prof. Amos Utuama
A highly respected figure in Nigerian politics, Professor Amos Utuama, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), has passed away at the age of 77. The details surrounding his passing are still shrouded in secrecy.
Celebrated leaders have paid tribute to his memory. James Ibori, a former Governor of Delta State, expressed his deep admiration and respect for the late Professor Utuama, his former Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice.
According to Ibori, “Professor Amos Agbe Utuama, my humble, loyal, and esteemed Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, you were my steadfast legal foundation, executing your duties with unwavering commitment. If it were within my power to halt death, I would have done so for you. Farewell, dear Professor. May your pure soul rest in eternal peace.”
Ibori’s sentiments highlight Utuama’s remarkable dedication and professionalism throughout his illustrious career.
Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, also released a statement, saying, “I have just received the devastating news of the death of Delta State’s former Deputy Governor, Professor Amos Utuama. Delta State has suffered a significant loss, losing one of its prominent political leaders – a great patriot and an astute academic of international repute. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and the people of Delta State at this difficult time. May his gentle soul rest in the bosom of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Born on June 5, 1947, Utuama served as the Deputy Governor of Delta State from 2007 to 2015 under the administration of Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan. In addition, he held the roles of Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice during James Ibori’s administration.
