Nollywood Actor Kunle Afolayan Mourns the Loss of His 81-Year-Old Mother

Naijawebinfo reports that Nollywood actor and filmmaker, Kunle Afulayan, has announced the demise of his mother, Omoladun Afolayan. In a heartfelt post on his Instagram page, Kunle remembered his mother, who was 81 years old when she passed away.

Sharing fond memories of his late mother, including photographs of her with her grandchildren, Kunle expressed the difficulty of accepting her passing. Despite his grief, he paid tribute to his mother’s life, saying, “It is hard to accept but she surely lived a good life.” He went on to share details about her passing, saying, “Our mother, Maami Omoladun Ayanladun Afolayan, has gone to rest (1943-2024). She is survived by her children and grandchildren. Please keep us in your prayers. Omo re a gbeyin gbogbo wa.”

Kunle’s brother, actor Gabriel Afolayan, also mourned the loss of their mother, saying, “Home is not cool. We lost a very dear one. You’d be greatly missed, big mummy. We all love you to bits. I will miss my gist and dance partner. Rest on. Big love to my sibs. #maami #kunleafo #aremumimostwantedlikecrudeoil.”

Meanwhile, Kunle Afolayan has announced that Netflix has approved another season of Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre, a Netflix series he has been working on. In a post on his Instagram page, he revealed an impressive lineup of actors set to join the upcoming season, including former Big Brother Naija housemate, Okusaga Adeoluwa, and content creators Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori, known as Kiki, and Mr. Macaroni.

Ghanaian actress Fella Makafui, former Big Brother Africa housemate Tayo Faniran, and several Nollywood veterans, including Saidi Balogun, Jide Awobona, Joke Muyiwa, Salami, Oyewole Abija, Rotimi Salami, and Antar Laniyan, will also be featured in the upcoming season.

Other notable additions include Portuguese actors Pedro Teixeira and Hugo Nicolau, and rising talents like TikTok sensation Tiago Ishola (Oyiboibile), Shushu Abubakar, and Adejoke Adeyooba.
