Mysterious Shooting Death Rocks Anambra: Police Officer Accused of Fatal Dispute Over Paltry Sum
A somber incident in Anambra State has left a young man in the mortuary, allegedly at the hands of a police officer accused of shooting him dead over a dispute involving a mere ₦100 at a checkpoint.
According to eyewitnesses, a heated argument ensued between one of the officers and the victim, which unfortunately turned deadly when the officer suddenly opened fire, leaving the youth fatally wounded.
A local resident from Aguleri, who witnessed the horrific scene, shared a disturbing video of the victim’s body, revealing the identity of the police team involved in the incident, led by Officer Onyebuchi.
The fatal shooting, which occurred on a Saturday, has sparked widespread outrage in the community, with local youths protesting to condemn the police’s deadly actions.
Details of the dispute remain shrouded in mystery, as it remains unclear whether the argument centered around a requested ₦100 bribe or a balance for a amount already paid. However, the police have confirmed the shooting.
When approached for comment, Anambra State Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, acknowledged the incident and assured that appropriate action had been taken.
“The officer involved, Inspector Sani Suleiman, has been identified and taken into custody,” Ikenga revealed. “He has been disarmed and detained for further investigation and internal disciplinary procedures.”
