Nollywood Director, Dimeji Ajibola, Passes Away
Naijawebinfo has announced the sad news that Dimeji Ajibola, a renowned film director and creative force in Nollywood, has passed away. The news was shared through a heartfelt post on Instagram by actor Bolanle Ninalowo.
In his tribute, Ninalowo expressed his love and admiration for Ajibola, saying, “I love you, brother, and I will miss you. May God heal your family and loved ones. Till we meet again, may your memory be a blessing. Rest on, Champ.”.
Another prominent Nollywood actor, Samuel Olatunji, confirmed Ajibola’s passing to the Tribune, revealing that the director had been battling an unnamed illness before his untimely death.
Ajibola’s remarkable career spanned multiple facets of the film industry, including film, animation, visual effects, virtual worlds, and interactive media. He was celebrated for his innovative approach, which blended traditional and digital art forms to create groundbreaking productions.
Throughout his career, Ajibola held various academic credentials, including a degree in filmmaking and cinematography from the New York Film Academy in Universal Studios, advanced character animation from Animation Mentor in San Francisco, and visual effects from VFXLearning. He was the CEO and Technical Director of Flipsyde Studios Ltd., where he earned a reputation for excellence and innovation.
Ajibola’s notable works include the 2012 film “Hoodrush,” which marked Nigeria’s first urban musical film and showcased his ability to merge narrative storytelling with rich musical elements. The film received widespread critical acclaim, earning several awards, including Best Movie at the 2012 Green Me Film Festival in Germany, Best Actor and Soundtrack at the Nollywood Movies Awards, and Best Supporting Actor at the AMAA Awards.
