Peter Obi Debunks Claims of “Miraculous” Credit Alerts
A recent phenomenon has seen individuals claiming to have received credit alerts after praying, but former Governor of Anambra State and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has expressed skepticism about these claims.
In a recent interview, Obi emphasized that such occurrences are not a sign of divine intervention, but rather a case of theft. He urged that anyone making such claims should be held accountable and, indeed, arrested. According to him, claiming to receive credit alerts through prayer is equivalent to admitting to stealing from someone else.
The practice of individuals testifying to receiving miraculous financial assistance after praying is widespread across some Nigerian churches. However, Obi believes that this is not a genuine demonstration of faith, but rather a clever guise for theft.
In the same interview, Obi shared his experience of appointing women to key positions during his tenure as governor, citing their sense of responsibility to their families and desire for a better society as motivators for their decision-making.
He opined that gender can play a significant role in the level of corruption observed in society, suggesting that women tend to exhibit less corrupt behavior than men. He attributed this to their strong sense of family orientation and commitment to creating a better community.
Views on Corruption: Women Tend to be Less Corrupt
Speaking on the Honest Bunch Podcast, Obi highlighted his experience of appointing numerous women to key positions in his administration, including Chief of Staff and commissioners for Education and Planning, during his tenure as governor.
According to Obi, women’s family-centered approach drives them to make decisions that contribute to the betterment of society, leading to a decrease in corrupt practices in governance.
He said, “Women are less corrupt. They are not as corrupt as men. And because they have families, they are more determined to see things work.”
