“Global Fame: Being Honoured Like a Head of State Abroad”

People Welcome Me Like President In Other Countries – Davido

Davido Reveals the Privileges of Being a Global Superstar

As a renowned Afrobeats artist, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has shared his remarkable experiences traveling the world. In a recent interview with Kiss Fresh London, the singer revealed that his celebrity status grants him special treatment abroad, with an exception or two.

According to Davido, he’s often invited to dine with presidents in countries he visits, a privilege he enjoys everywhere except in the United States of America and the United Kingdom. His devoted global fanbase, he claims, treats him like a head of state, mirroring the level of admiration and adoration usually reserved for political leaders.

Claiming that his fanbase is comprised of influential individuals, including the World Bank president, presidents of powerful nations, and other prominent figures, Davido is clearly passionate about the global impact of his music and cultural influence. “Every country we visit, the President invites us for dinner, except for London [United Kingdom] and the United States of America,” he shares. “It’s beautiful to see. It shows how well Nigeria is doing around the world regarding music and cultural impacts.”

Davido expresses his pride in being revered in Africa, emphasizing that this is why he enjoys his African tours more than those in Europe and America, despite earning more in the latter regions. He recounts that his friend and fellow artist, YG Marley of Jamaica, was astonished by the outpouring of love and adoration from his fans during his recent visit to Nigeria for a music video shoot.
