Joshua Open to Fury Showdown

Anthony Joshua Open To Fighting Tyson Fury – Eddie Hearn

Eddie Hearn: Anthony Joshua Open to Facing Tyson Fury as He Plans His Next Move

A bruising defeat at the hands of Daniel Dubois in September has left Joshua facing an extended wait for his highly anticipated battle with Fury. The southpaw is struggling to come to terms with the setback, which has put his standing in the heavyweight division under a cloud.

Despite this recent defeat, Joshua remains a powerhouse in the heavyweight division, according to Eddie Hearn. He believes that, no matter the outcome of Fury’s upcoming match against Oleksandr Usyk on December 21, Fury will be eager to face Joshua next.

“Honestly, I think Fury, win or lose, will want to fight AJ next, and that’s something we’ve got to decide,” Hearn remarked in an interview with Sky Sports, leaving the door ajar for the long-anticipated all-British showdown.

However, fellow promoter Frank Warren has expressed doubts about Joshua’s immediate prospects in the division. He emphasized the need for Joshua to regain credibility among fans and promoters alike.

“He’s got to prove himself, AJ, that’s for sure,” Warren said, highlighting the difficulties that lie ahead for Joshua as he seeks to secure high-profile matchups once more.

A rematch with Dubois, which Joshua desperately wants, is already being ruled out in the short term, with Dubois set to defend his IBF heavyweight title on February 22 against a yet-to-be-announced opponent. Negotiations are ongoing for Dubois’ next fight.

“I don’t see that happening next, so we’re looking at a few options at the moment,” Warren explained in an interview with BoxNation, emphasizing the challenges Joshua faces in his quest to get back on the path to championship contention.
