- Nollywood actor Emeka Nwagbaraocha has taken to social media to express his support for Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in Nigeria’s 2023 elections.
- Recently, Obi made headlines for his comment on the necessity of changing night vigils into night shifts. He also expressed his opinion that both politics and churches need to be reformed.
According to Nwagbaraocha, attending church more than three times a week is unreasonable, unless one is a pastor or has a legitimate reason to do so. He also emphasized the need to strike a balance between spiritual life and daily responsibilities.
In a series of tweets, the actor shared his thoughts on the matter, stating that he has noticed various church advertisements for daily services, which he believes is excessive. He believes that spending too much time in church does not lead to productivity and can be detrimental to one’s well-being.In his words: “It doesn’t make sense to attend Church more than twice a week, at most three times a week. Except you are a Pastor. When do you even have time to rest and be productive. Even God will frown at such excesses. I’ve seen certain ‘church’ banner with activity for Every day! Naa… I just think it’s crazy.”
Nwagbaraocha’s comments have sparked various reactions online, with some people agreeing with his views while others have expressed their own opinions on the matter.
Some of the comments on his tweets include:@ella_uche28: “It’s their choice though. There are Catholics that attend mass everyday and I admire them. But I can’t, except it is a special mass.”
@Emeneks: “Definitely their choice. I’m just saying it doesn’t make sense to me logically. Especially when these services are hours long. Catholic masses are 1hr max I think.”
@prolificcharisa: “It’s not a big deal especially if you are a worker in church, I’m a chorister in church, and I still have my life. If one can go to work every day, then it’s possible.”
@FolyDominion: “Some people will go like 6 times a week.”
@Emeneks: “If you don’t have a job and you’re working in church, that’s different.”
@sasu_mwen: “If they had real jobs, it’d be once a week.”
@iyke10417281: “Going to church always doesn’t determine how righteous you are. From my records, it is seen that most people who go to church always sin the most. The question is do you have faith? Do obey the ten commandments?”
