Daniel Dubois Vs Anthony Joshua Rematch Suffer Setback

Lennox Lewis Advises Anthony Joshua to Take a Break After Defeat

In the wake of his unexpected loss to Daniel Dubois, former heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis is urging Anthony Joshua to take a break and regroup. After a dominant performance, Dubois successfully defeated Joshua, dropping him multiple times and ultimately landing a crushing right-hand blow in the fifth round, leaving the former champion reeling.

The defeat sent shockwaves through the boxing world, raising questions about Joshua’s future in the sport. However, Joshua has already dismissed these concerns, announcing his intention to continue boxing and planning a rematch with Dubois for February 2024.

While negotiations for the rematch are underway, Dubois is set to defend his IBF title on February 22 against a yet-to-be-announced opponent. In the meantime, Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, is considering a potential fight between Joshua and Tyson Fury, but Lewis believes that Joshua should take a step back and reassess his strategy before returning to the ring.

“I don’t think he should take the rematch right away. I think he should take a moment to rest and then come back,” Lewis advised in an interview with Box Nation.

Lewis also praised Dubois, who rose to the occasion to secure a thrilling victory. “I was very impressed with Dubois. His right-hand throw was impressive, and he seemed to be ready for the fight. He’s grown as a fighter and has shown great promise.” Lewis noted.

As for Joshua, it’s likely that he’ll sit out until the summer, with his next opponents dependent on the outcome of the upcoming rematch between Fury and Oleksandr Usyk.
