“More of the Same Old, Failed Policies Under Atiku’s Leadership”

“Atiku Not Involved In PDP Crisis’ – Aide Claims

APC: Atiku’s Alternative Policies are Same Old Errors

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has pointed out that the former presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, is reiterating policies that failed to address Nigeria’s problems when he has the opportunity to lead the country.

According to APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, Atiku’s suggestions on what he would have done differently to improve the country’s condition if elected as president in 2023 revealed his inability to move on from his 2023 election loss. The party’s spokesman stated that these failed policies are responsible for the economic drawbacks the APC government inherited from previous PDP administrations.

In his latest statement, Atiku rehashed his failed policy approaches that temporarily worsened corruption, inefficiency, and economic stagnation under PDP rule. He proposed removing fuel subsidies, eliminating multiple exchange rate regimes, and a managed-floating foreign exchange system, which have been tested and failed to deliver significant results.

Morka continued, “Atiku’s plan lacks imagination, acknowledging the complex contradictions and extreme urgency of the current situation. His gradualist approach, as seen in the past, will not address Nigeria’s challenges. The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is currently intervening in the foreign exchange market to provide liquidity and mitigate currency pressure, ensuring stability.

Atiku’s proposed Economic Stimulus Fund and Infrastructure Development Unit lack clarity and concrete implementation plans. His five-point agenda, including unity, economic reform, insecurity reduction, and quality education, lacks detail on how these objectives will be achieved.

The party warned that Atiku’s criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s policies reflects his continued gaslighting of the public, inciting outrage, and embracing street protests against the administration’s reform plan, which is designed to rebuild the economy he, as a two-term vice president, helped to destroy under the PDP’s wasteful years.

President Tinubu remains committed to implementing bold, forward-looking, and effective policies that address Nigeria’s complex challenges at their core, ensuring a strong, resilient, and prosperous economy for present and future generations of Nigerians. These reforms are crucial for stabilizing the economy, attracting investment, improving the business environment, lifting millions out of poverty, and promoting inclusive development.

The party urged Nigerians to continue supporting President Tinubu’s administration and believe that the hardships associated with the reforms will ultimately lead to lasting economic gains for all Nigerians.
