CAF Mourns Sudden Death of Ugandan Referee Peter Kabugo

Rebunking Claims of Nigerian Abuse in Libya
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Federal Government has vehemently rejected reports of Nigerians being subjected to harassment and ill-treatment in Libya as a result of a CAF ruling in favor of the Super Eagles in their 2025 AFCON qualifier. The opposing team, Libya, had been penalized with a three-point deduction and a $50,000 fine by CAF.
Reports had circulated that Libyan authorities had begun arresting and mistreating Nigerian citizens following the CAF verdict. However, the Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has strictly denied these claims, citing contrary information.
A statement released by the Spokesman of the Ministry, Ambassador Eche Abu-Obe, assuaged fears by confirming that Nigerians in Libya were conducting their daily activities without incident, unfettered by any untoward actions from local authorities.
