Naijawebinfo reported that Peter Nwele was elected as the new chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State during the state congress held at the weekend in Abakaliki, the state capital.

In his address during the event, Nwele reiterated that Ebonyi State has a long history of being a PDP stronghold and emphasized that the party will make a significant comeback in 2027.

The state congress was overseen by a seven-member committee from the party’s National Secretariat, along with representatives from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and various security agencies.

“Ebonyi State has been a PDP stronghold for a long time, and we’re committed to keeping it that way,” Nwele stated. “There’s no crisis within the party – just an opportunity to bring back defectors and grow stronger than ever.”

The new chairman emphasized the importance of forgiveness and unity, stating that the party is willing to welcome back former members and work towards reclaiming its lost mandate.

Ugonna Ogbonna, the Chairman of the Congress Committee, praised party members for their orderly conduct and described the event as both peaceful and transparent.

C hin Ali Odefa, the National Vice Chairman for the South East region, expressed his enthusiasm and affection for the PDP within the state and across the nation and reaffirmed the party’s efforts to reclaim power from the APC in the 2027 elections.

Odefa firmly denied any notion of discord within the party, stating that total reconciliation has taken place and the National Working Committee is entirely united.
