APC Chieftain Warns President Tinubu Against Interfering in Kwankwasiyya Movement Crisis

A prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Musa Illiyasu Kwankwaso, has cautioned President Bola Tinubu against meddling in the internal affairs of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, led by Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

It is understood that Tinubu’s meeting with Kwankwaso was initiated by the latter, and the development has sparked concerns about the potential impact on the political landscape.

Reacting to the situation, Illiyasu issued a statement, expressing doubts about Kwankwaso’s trustworthiness. He stated that the meeting between Kwankwaso and Tinubu must have been motivated by the fact that his allies are defecting, and therefore, the President should be cautious of what Kwankwaso may be saying to him.

In his statement, Illiyasu noted that the trio of SSG Bichi, Rirum, and Madakin Gini, as well as Senator Kawu Sumaila, who played key roles in the 2023 victory of the NNPP/Abba Kabir Yusuf government, are now abandoning Kwankwaso, which is causing him increasing anxiety.

Illiyasu believes that Kwankwaso is desperate and trying to win Tinubu’s favor because he is losing ground, which is why he is being shameless in his pursuit of the President’s ear. As such, Illiyasu advises Tinubu to be cautious of whatever Kwankwaso may say to him.

He also declared that the crisis in the Kwankwasiyya Movement is a “fight to the finish,” and that as an APC member, he believes the party should celebrate its potential victory in the 2027 general elections rather than commiserate with the opponents.
