Governor Makinde Visits Former Ekiti Governor Fayose In Lagos

Seyi Makinde Pays Surprise Visit to Ayo Fayose in Lagos

News broke on Monday that Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, paid a discreet visit to former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, at his Lagos residence. The unexpected visit has sent shockwaves among followers and supporters of the two prominent figures in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

What makes this visit noteworthy is the contrasting political stances of the two governors. While Fayose is known for his forthright views, he surprisingly supported Bola Ahmed Tinubu, former Lagos State Governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, in the 2023 presidential election.

Makinde, on the other hand, was a vocal critic of his party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and formed the G-5 group with other PDP leaders, expressing their opposition to the party’s candidate.

Lere Olayinka, a trusted aide to Fayose, confirmed the visit in a tweet, stating that Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, paid a visit to former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose, in Lagos today.

The visit has fueled speculations about Makinde’s political ambitions, particularly in the 2027 election. The Oyo State Governor has already hinted that he will make his own decision about his political future, shutting down rumors of a possible presidential bid. According to him, the next election will be a contest between the ruling party and the Nigerian people.

Whatever the intentions behind this visit, one thing is certain: the politics of friendship, loyalty, and power have just got a lot more intriguing in the midst of the evolving political landscape in Nigeria!
