Senator Ishaku Abbo Offers Solution to Fuel Crisis, Seeks to Lower Petrol Price to N480 in 2025
Senator Ishaku Abbo has expressed confidence that he can resolve the current fuel crisis in the country. He has submitted a proposal to President Bola Tinubu to reduce the price of petrol from the current over N1,000 per liter to N480 by 2025. If approved, this would bring much-needed relief to Nigerians struggling with the high cost of living.
Abbo shared his plan during a press conference in Yola, where he unveiled a comprehensive strategy to reduce petrol prices in Nigeria. This plan aims to make a significant impact on the lives of Nigerians, who are currently hit by the ongoing fuel crisis.
The senator’s announcement comes on the heels of the recent national grid collapse, which left the North in total darkness for almost three weeks. This event has highlighted the urgent need for a solution to the fuel crisis and its associated problems, such as power outages and economic hardship.
In his address, Abbo also criticized past administrations in Adamawa State for their failure to collaborate with the federal government to upgrade the Kiri dam in Shelleng LGA into an electricity generation dam capable of producing at least 35MW of electricity. He urged Governor Ahmadu Fintiri to focus on projects that directly benefit rural dwellers, rather than building flyovers.
As the senator delivered his statement, his emotion-filled words conveyed the gravity of the situation and the desperation of the people. “The people are suffering, they are dying of hunger every day, and crime is on the rise due to poverty and a lack of legitimate job opportunities, especially for the youth,” he said. “My heart bleeds when I see people roaming to find food unsuccessfully for their families.” His words painted a poignant picture of the nation’s troubles and the urgent need for effective solutions like his proposed plan to reduce petrol prices.
