SEED Foundation Launches Initiative to Ensure ‘No Child Left Behind’ in Nigeria’s Education System

The SEED Care & Support Foundation has launched a new initiative to ensure that every Nigerian child has access to quality education. The launch event brought together prominent figures in the education sector to discuss the challenges facing the system and to inspire collective action for change.

Mrs. Abosede Paul Obameso emphasized the importance of making quality education accessible to all Nigerian children, highlighting the need for inclusive policies to address educational disparities. She emphasized that every child has the right to quality education, and her opening address set the tone for the event.

Aashti Zaidi Hai, CEO of Global School Forum, SEED Nigeria, emphasized the importance of collaboration and partnerships to address the challenges in Nigeria’s education system. She highlighted the foundation’s efforts to support schools across Nigeria, particularly in Lagos, to ensure that children from diverse backgrounds have access to the support they need to succeed.

Speakers from across the education sector shared their insights and expertise on various topics, from affordability to inclusivity. British High Commission’s Senior Education Adviser, Ian Attfield, emphasized that while education doesn’t have to be free, it must be affordable and accessible to all, regardless of background or disability.

Stephen Caleb Opuni, Regional Director for Africa at the IDP Foundation, Inc., shared insights from Ghana’s low-fee private schools, which have demonstrated remarkable resilience during the COVID-19 pandemic. He stressed the importance of adaptability and community support in keeping education accessible during challenging times.

The event also featured a panel discussion on the role of affordable non-state education in bridging gaps in Nigeria’s education sector. Experts from the Association for Formidable Educational Development (AFED), the Lagos State Office of Education Quality Assurance, and Wise Daniel Development Consultancy Ltd. shared their insights on the challenges and opportunities facing affordable private schools.

Throughout the event, the message was clear: every child deserves access to quality education, regardless of social or economic status. The SEED Foundation is committed to driving change and ensuring that no child is left behind in Nigeria’s education system. The event marked the launch of a new era of collaboration and action to transform the country’s education landscape.
