A Notable Politician Joins the Ranks of the All Progressives Congress
A former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Kabiru Yahaya Classic, has made a significant move by defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). This decision was announced on Thursday after a meeting with key APC stakeholders from Zamfara State in Kaduna.
Classic, who served as the representative for Anka/Talata Mafara Federal Constituency from 2019 to 2023 under the PDP, stated that he is not alone in his decision. He defected along with the entire PDP structure in Talata Mafara Local Government Area, including the local government executives and 10 out of 11 ward chairmen.
The former lawmaker cited a lack of justice and fairness within the PDP’s operations in Zamfara as the reason for his departure. He expressed his desire to join a party that prioritizes these values.
In a statement, Classic said, “I am pleased to announce my defection from the PDP to the APC, effective November 7, 2024. I am leaving with all PDP structures in Talata Mafara Local Government Area, including the local government executives and 10 out of 11 ward chairmen of the PDP.”
The State APC Chairman, Tukur Umar Danfulani, welcomed Classic’s decision, describing it as a significant development for the party. He expressed hope that more defectors from the PDP-led government in Zamfara would soon join the APC.
Danfulani assured Classic and all the defectors of fair treatment within the APC, stating, “We are happy to receive our brother in our great party. We assure Classic and all the defectors of fair treatment in APC.”
