Governor Yusuf Opens Up on Feud with Kwankwaso: “Most Insulting Experience”

‘It’s The Greatest Insult I Have Ever Faced’ – Gov Yusuf Speaks On Rift With Kwankwaso

Kano State Governor Rejects Allegations of Tension with Political Mentor Kwankwaso

Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has fiercely denied rumors of a conflict with his political mentor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. He has also condemned the “Abba Tsaya da Kafarka” movement, which is reportedly urging him to distance himself from Kwankwaso’s influence.

Yusuf described the movement as an insult, saying it suggests that he should repay his mentor’s kindness with wrongdoing. He emphasized that the duo’s relationship has remained strong and respectful over four decades.

Claims of External Influence and Rift

Members of the Kwankwasiyya movement and the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) have been claiming that Kwankwaso exerts significant influence over Yusuf’s administration, with some alleging that he dictates policy decisions. However, the governor dismissed these claims as baseless.

Yusuf revealed that he has consistently maintained his independence, rejecting the notion that he relies on Kwankwaso for guidance. He explained that their relationship is rooted in mutual respect and shared values.

Despite the rumors and claims, Yusuf thanked Kwankwaso for his unwavering support and reiterated his loyalty. He expressed frustration at how the allegations have been perceived and reported, stating that the claims are unfounded and lacking in evidence.

The NNPP recently suspended two officials accused of disloyalty, Abdullahi Baffa Bichi and Muhammad Diggol. Both officials have denied supporting the “Abba Tsaya da Kafarka” movement, which aimed to encourage Yusuf’s independence from Kwankwaso’s influence.

Two representatives, Aliyu Sani Madakin Gini and Alhassan Rurum, have also disassociated themselves from the Kwankwasiyya movement, urging Yusuf to assert his autonomy.

In light of these recent developments, Yusuf expressed his commitment to his friendship with Kwankwaso and urged his supporters to refrain from using divisive language. He emphasized the need to respect elders and encouraged his supporters to focus on the progress being made under his leadership.
